Kenya: Pierre’s journey to self-reliance

Pierre is one of the 50,000 refugees currently residing in Nairobi. After receiving a scholarship from JRS to study computer science he went onto apply for a loan from the organisation which assisted him to start a computer college. He now trains 25 Kenyans daily in computer literacy, hoping to make community members more competitive in the job market. When refugees like Pierre flee their homes, they come to their new countries with valuable skills, education and perspectives. JRS believes programmes like this unleash their potential to push entire communities forward.
